Chapter Six
Don’t Listen to Naysayers
“There aren’t any good men.” “You’ll never get married.” “You’re too
picky.” These are things I was told when I was single. I did not heed them
and neither should you. My desire was to be married and I believed God
would give me the desires of my heart if I would be patient.
You have to believe that God wants to bless you no matter how long you
have to wait or how many disappointments come your way. There was a
young man I worked with who one day literally said to me, “You’re never
going to get married. You’re going to be an old maid!” I immediately
replied to him, “I do not receive that. I will get married!” It would have
been easy for me to believe his statement being that I was in my early
thirties and had no prospects in sight. But I refused to do so.
You cannot allow people to have the last say so over your life.
I am sure that you have heard the depressing statistics of the probability
of women meeting and marrying a good man or the discouraging male to
female ratio. You must know that God’s blessings are not based on
statistics. His blessings are based on His Word and your ability to
believe His Word.
Please understand that there is no “Mr. Right.” If you are waiting for a
perfect man then you are waiting in vain because he does not exist. No
man is all right or all wrong. The objective is to know by spiritual
discernment who is right for you and who fits your life perfectly.
So do not listen to the naysayers. When the time is right God will bless
you with the man that is perfect for you.
